Just north of the K
Street Business District, Dupont Circle is an
urban neighborhood where you'll find a well-established
center for the art community brimming with galleries,
photography studios and interior design businesses, as
well as some of the city's most famous architecture.
Whether you crave a
good ole' burger, or would rather a nice, juicy
porterhouse, the restaurants around here are sure to
suffice.
Many
of the neighborhood restaurants double as late-night
bars and dance clubs. Once the midnight hour approaches,
Dupont Circle hangouts heat up. Dupont Circle
has long been a popular community for
young, fly-by-the-seat-of-their-pants Washingtonians,
but in recent years the scope of residents has adjusted
to include families and older generations that enjoy the
energetic youthfulness and quirky vibe.
Spend
any time in and about Dupont Circle and you feel as if
you are in the center of it. It’s no illusion, you are.
You name it and one of the street or avenues that
intersect Dupont Circle leads there.
Dupont is diverse, international, cultural, artistic, a
bit quirky and Funky.
But there is little
need to venture beyond the neighborhood for eateries,
fine dining, shopping, or nightlife. There is even a
neighborhood park, that doubles as a hangout and
cultural center, the

Housing in Dupont Circle is
characterized by a slew of brown- and
greystones that are at least 100 years
old. But the neighborhood is hardly
one-dimensional when it comes to real
estate. If you can't snag one of the
historical homes , you can find housing
options that range from classic
two-flats to Eastern European-inspired,
single-family houses to brand nearly new
condos. . Many of the neighborhood's
older, stately graystones, brownstones
and brick walkups are rehabs, updated
with modern conveniences and
state-of-the-art amenities essential to
today's lifestyle. While some are still
private single-family residences, most
of these vintage buildings have been
split up into separate two- and
three-bedroom units.
The average sales price
for a one bedroom condo
in downtown is
about $400,000. A
two-bedroom unit jumps
the average price up to
almost $600,000,
with a select few
selling for $1,000,000.

And
now another adjective has been affixed to the historic
neighborhood, walkability. Dupont is the most walk
friendly neighborhood in DC. It has a walkscore of 99 on
a 100 point scale. “Walkscore calculates the walkability
of an address by location nearby stores, restaurants,
schools, parks, etc. Walk Score measures how easy it is

Need a faster mode of
trans then hop on the Metro or grab a bike from the
SmartBikeDC rack at the circle on Mass. For an even
faster mode grab a zip car at one of the two convenient
neighborhood locations.
Washington Area
Metropolitan Transit
Authority (the
Metro) is also
an excellent and
inexpensive option to
get from point A to
point B. The train
from the Dupont Circle
Metro Station will have
you at Metro Center in
five minutes.
Sometimes it may make
more sense to take a
bus. Metro bus
lines are easily
accessible long P to
destinations east and
west and Connecticut
Avenue if you are headed
north or south.
Although the Dupont
Circle offers the city's most
convenient public
transportation options,
sometimes life calls for
a cab -- and around
here, they're
everywhere. Just raise
your arm and one will
stop. If you are
driving, the Rock Creek
Parkway is definitely
the best option for a
quick get-a-way.
As you might imagine,
most of the parking in
this District
neighborhood is at lots
and structures that
charge hefty hourly or
daily fees. Car owners
here find it beneficial
to own a garage
space,
available in few residential buildings.
